Abia CSDP Assures to assist Government in Community Development
According to United Nations Development Programme, Human capital Development is the process of enlarging people’s choices, and the said choices means allowing them to leave a long and healthy life, to be educated, to enjoy a decent standard of living, as well as political freedom, other guaranteed human rights and various ingredients of self-respect.
As widely known, the overall goal of the Community and Social Development Project CSDP AF is to improve access to services for human development. And to achieve this goal, the Project Development Objective is designed to increase access by the poor to improve social and natural resource infrastructure services in a sustainable manner throughout Nigeria especially the internally displaced and vulnerable individuals, communities in the North East, and other parts of rural areas in Nigeria.
So far, Abia CSDP has completed more than 350 micro projects since the inception of CSDP according to the General Manager Dr. P. Chinatu Njoku at a 3-day training of Community project management committee members held in Umuahia.
Dr. Njoku identified capacity building as veritable bedrock in pursuit of sustained rural development, adding that CSDP has recorded huge success in capacity building within the previous years that community Driven Investment commenced.
He said the main objective of CSDP is to improve the wellbeing and social life of the rural populace and in an effort to community development, sustainability is the key which should not jeopardize the existence of future generation. Thus, issues of climate change and environmental management should be given adequate attention at all times.
The Abia CSDP general manager assured to assist in making sure that the aims and aspirations of the state government is achieved and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his support for CSDP, particularly the recent allocation and renovation of a conducive office accommodation, and urged Abians to support his government to achieve more.
