Michael Okpara University VC Under Pressure Over Sacked Workers

The Vice Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike Prof. Francis Otunta is under intense pressure to recall over 348 workers he sacked in the institution.


The Senate Committee on Ethics, privileges and public petitions chaired by Sen. Samuel Anyanwu according to report insisted after their thorough investigation that
Prof. Francis Otunta should without delay re-absorb the sacked Workers.

The Educator News reliably gathered that the  Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor, Prof. Otunta since the decision of the Senate has been in and out of the nation's Capital city Abuja lobbying to stop that decision of the Senate Committee on Ethics and privileges.

The salaries of these disengaged staff is said to be running and being diverting to a private account.

Meanwhile, the Senator Representing Abia Central at the Senate, Senator T. A Orji in a seating, frowned and described the activities presently going on at the institution as unfortunate, and urged the Senate to write to the School given them date to comply with the directive of the Senate as well as pay the affected staff their salary arrears.
